Flickr video?

What do you think? After seeing all of the rants today in the flickr groups I think Yahoo may have just signed their own death certificate. Between the possible hostile take-over and slumping sales... The last thing they should have done was messed with something that worked.

Flickr went down for awhile after the integration of video. Why is there a need to compete with youtube, IMHO it is a day late and a dollar short. Youtube has been around too long and *works* for videos, just as Flickr *worked* for photos. I don't want my pictures taking longer to load because of all Junior friends watching the video he just made of farting flames out of his ass for 90 seconds.

I found lots of flickr groups protesting the change, but I was amazed at the number who have already joined this group.

NOOOOOOOO!!!! I did not know this was going down! sigh.... I like flickr because it seems to have a soul a maturity, you tube, not so much.

Well no one outside of the company knew it was happening it seems. Pro users are complaining that the agreement they e-signed said they were signing up for photo storage, not video. There are alot of un-happy campers in flickr land this week, Smugmug even has a sale going, it's something like the "Fleeing Flickr" special lol! Seems they are really getting slammed with people coming to them. The sale is half off just put the code "flickr" in if you sign up.
I am glad that I only use flickr for my family pics and not my wanne be pro ones lol. I have been on Smugmug for awhile now. They have layouts for your images and it looks professional which is something Flickr was never able to do.
