Sometimes my husband and I like to get really buzzed and then go buy stuff. Mostly "stuff" is candy and over priced coffee, but this past Sunday we got a little more polluted than normal -- so of course -- he got some interesting things at Target we did not need: Wolverine toothbrush, Grave Digger toy car, and not pictured, a copy of GnR "Appetite for Destruction". Target is dangerous when you're buzzed because everything sounds like a good/fun idea to buy.
We also got some fun generic brands you can always turn to in a recession...
Delicare: it don't clean nothin' but it smells good. King of Shaves: makes my legs bleed but it smells good. BreathRx: I guess it sorta works. CVS Nail Polish Remover: works eventually, but smells like hell for hours afterward. But dammit, I bought 'em so I'll use 'em!

During my trip to Seattle I got a chance to eat some good food. After I landed we headed to West Seattle, our home base, to The Matador. They have a great happy hour and the most spicy fried calamari I've ever eaten. Yum!
My first full day in Seattle was my sightseeing day. This included the obligatory stop at Pike Place and the popular Piroshky-Piroshky which is right next to the first Starbucks.
Sunday brunch time! I guess brunch is popular all over and not just at LA breakfast hot spots.
We headed to Easy Street which is part diner, coffee bar downstairs, cd shop upstairs. Think Amoeba, but smaller and serving no frills diner food. I ordered the Easy Rider, a breakfast sandwich that puts the Egg McMuffin to shame.
But don't worry; I still love me a McGriddle.
My day did not start off very well this morning. First off......woke up to thunder, lightening, & rain.......knew there was no way Fritz was coming out of his bed and going outside, so just left him till later and came in to make my coffee. Opened the dish washer to retrieve the carafe....found it broken.....not bad....just the part where you pour. I found the broken pieces in the bottom.....only two about an inch wide each. Bad enough I could not use the pot to make my coffee....so, therefore, no caffeine to begin the day. I knew that meant a trip to Walley World for the replacement..........but, that's ok as I had a couple of other errands to do that were on the way. But first......two 13 by 9 pans of Jello Jigglers for VBS later tonight.........I forgot just how many pans we did make (smile). I think we've been feeding several little ones who come from very poor families & they don't often get enough to eat. It's ok......I don't mind. The first night we had 24.......the second night we had 34. That's very good for our size church and our rural area. I think our highest total since doing VBS with this Pastor has been 38. So.....the Jigglers were made, then I managed to get Fritz to go out when it slacked up in all the loud thunder and heavy down pours. After that, I decided to get myself ready to go & out the door I went.
My new carafe cost $10.96.........that's for a Mr. Coffee that I think only cost somewhere around $20 to begin with. Hmmmmmm.....that seems a bit ridiculous to me....everything seems to just be sky rocketing in price lately or is it just me.
Well......a situation that I thought might be taking place in a few weeks looks like now it may not be......it was something I was dreading to say the least but was going to "tolerate" because of who it was & the circumstances surrounding the whole situation. I had turned it over to the Lord as a matter of prayer......& still praying......but, hoping this is His answer. Once I learn it is for certain.....will do a little dance around the house! I am not a person who likes "changes" much of any kind & this was going to be huge.
Oh my......didn't realize the time here......I am off to bed. Have a good night.& will check in again soon. I've thoroughly enjoyed reading some of the blogs tonight.......some made me smile & as bad as I have felt all late afternoon and in through the evening....that is a plus

This isn't quite what it sounds like. By framing a photo I mean take a photo of a subject that is frame by something near the subject. For example you can frame a landscape with tree limbs, or frame a face with a window. Here is some information on framing your subject, http://www.scrapjazz.com/topics/Photography/Lessons/579.php and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Framing_(photography). When you use elements in your photograph to frame your subject you draw the eye of the viewer to your subject.
This photo is an example of a frame subject. The frame of the mountains, clouds and the tree to the left draw your eye to the blue sky at sunset.
For this quest I would like you to take your photos during the quest time-line. Submit up to three photos and tell us about your camera, the settings you used and anything else that we might find interesting. Subject matter is up to you but keep it clean and fun!
What a week it has been! I'm sorry to be late getting the winners posted. I haven't posted in a week that is a new record for me I think. I have a lot of catching up to do.
Back to this weeks quest. Great entries and thanks go to all of you for braving this quest and posting your photos.
I enjoyed that you all did some amazing things with your self portraits. What creative geniuses you are. There were no two photos alike.
First Place goes to yancunyong for his photo of himself taking the photo in a mirror. This photo just screams fun to me.
Second Place goes to LondonYankee for her photo of her foot print in the ocean sand. This photo has a strong diagonal line with the line of the surf and repeated circles with the bubbles in the surf and her cute round toe prints. Great composition!
Thanks again to all of you that entered this week's quest. I hope you learned something about self portraits and had some fun along the way.
This past weekend I made my way out to Seattle and finally visit my friend Judy. To start off the trip I decided to fly Virgin America which TF raves about. What I didn't tell anyone was that I flew first class on my way to Seattle. The difference between first class and economy is more room and all the amenities you'd normally pay for in economy are included like all the movies, meals and drinks.

Since moving to Diablo on my N810 I can no longer have Canola2 sync the RSS feeds of my podcasts. I was at a loss, I didn't want to set up another podcatcher and move them over manually. I also didn't want to install anything else on my n810 to try and do this for me (you Canola2 folks better be happy for my loyalty). So for lack of anything else I decided to start listening to audio books.
I used to listen to audio books in my pre-teen age, trying to cram more books into my skull at the same time. The problem is that I didn't absorb them the same way as I do the written word. I'm still sure I miss a lot listening to the audio book of something versus reading it, but I get enough of it that it is still enjoyable. I decided to start with John Grisham's The Appeal.
The book is pretty much standard John Grisham fare, if you like his criminal law dramas then I would definitely recommend picking up a copy of it. Pick it up in hardcover or paperback or audiobook from Amazon.
